My favorite discovery was Google.doc. In general, anything that is not "PC dependent". Now, if my computer crashes, I will not be that worried. I have saved virtually most of my staff!
I now need to learn how to keep up with my blog, bloglines, wiki, twitter, delicious, goggle...
How do you people do it? Are you sign in in all your accounts all the time??? Do you have several screens???
If you offer another discovery program like this in the future, I would definitely chose to participate. If I start from week 1, I will not need to rush that much!

I have visited MOLDI before and I am actually listening to my first audio book on MP3 as I drive to and from work. This time I have place a hold on "Complete Lyric Language Spanish". I am hoping to be able to use it for Bilingual Storytime. My next one to listen to will be "Improve Your American English Accent". Hopefully, everybody gets to understand what I say!

I subscribed to Storynory http://storynory.com/pond-life/which offers a wonderful variety of Stories for children. They are categorized and also available to see on the screen with very nice pictures. I could not find anything directly related to the Spanish language, but if anybody is interested in Japanese, they have a Storynory Japan.

CML's Toolbox

What a great feature for our patrons. I have downloaded the CML toolbar at home. Just love it! I can get to the CML Website with just a click, see my account, and have access to the new material and even see which one I have already checked out. Since I started Learn and Play I have the unstoppable feeling to spread the word!!!!

I really like SpanishPod. I recommend it to anybody who wants to learn the language and the culture at the same time. It is fun and it introduces a few vocab words per lesson. Also, it provides a few exercises to practice the new skills.
It is interesting, fun , and not Spanish overwhelming.

Google doc

It is amazing. After our computer crashed, we lost our Office. Google doc means that my documents can be stored out of my PC. It is great how it minimizes emails and gives access to the same document to different people. My only question is, one of them can work on the file at the same time, right?

Thanks to Katie, who kindly helped me with my posting in the wiki, I could complete this step. Now I understand how wikis work. I can use the same wiki PBwiki sign in info to access all my wikis!

How cool is that. Here at CFD we have used our wiki to organize our potluck Christmas party. It is really great to be able to communicate in a fast and fluid way.
Everything sounds great up to know. However, I am starting to feel a little overwhelmed with all these "logging ins"

I do agree with what Rick Anderson, Director of Resource Acquisition,University of Nevada, Reno Libraries, says in the "Away from the “icebergs”.
As Rick says, I believe on eliminating the barriers that exist between patrons and the information they need, so they can spend ... as much time as possible actually reading and learning. I absolutely agree with the idea of the libraries reaching out to the community and going to our patrons preferred places. . I think that in many communities, we will have to go phisically first, and virtually later.

Social bookmarking is the best. I just need to try this at home so I can install my tools and start tagging. I can then forget about my bookmarks. I lost a bunch of good sites when my computer crashed. I like the idea of having the sites that interest me in a virtual place...

I found LibraryThing as an interesting way to keep track of all the books I have read. Obviously, it will take me a while to put them all in there (I wonder if I will ever do that). It is also nice to have recommendations based on what I have read. I had fun playing with the image generators. I absolutely loved it when I found the way to create a personalized letter from Santa. Finding feeds

Technorati worked just fine for me. It was easy to use and gave me the results I was looking for right away. Now I can have access to Kathy Smith's blog and Dr. Williams Sears's blog with just a click. I am starting to like this bloglines thing...

I have participated from my Mom's 70th birthday. I got to see the dark room and said "Sorpresa" when she came in. The party was in Buenos Aires, however, I was sitting in my living room in the buckeye state. Do I need to say more? Technology can take you any where at any time. Gracias Tecnología!!

I guess I am too practical. Everything was interesting. However I could not find any practical uses I can give to those mashups and tools... My creativity must be low today.

I have found several pictures that brought me memories from my hometown...I used to live a few blocks away from "El tren de la costa". Great place to go for a walk at anytime, but specially on Sundays.

7 & 1/2 Habits

The hardest for me: Begin with end in mind.
Even though I have an idea of where I want to go, I have a hard time defining a clear end until I am getting very closed to my final product. I like playing by ear and going with the flow as I shape my goals and define my "end".

The easiest: Have confidence in yourself as a competent, effective learner.
Hey, I arrived to the USA being able to say hello, how are you, please and thank you. I have taught myself (Thank you Library!) for years, I have never given up and I am still learning. I have proven that I am a competent, effective learner (and teacher).

Starting with Learn & Play

I have finally decided to Learn & Play. WOW, it seems challenging but since I do have confidence in myself as a competent, effective learner, I know that I can do this. If it really does take between 4 to 8 hours, I might even be able to finish by the deadline!! Vamos Gaby, vamos!
